BACKGROUND
Tamara King founded EHCP Schools in 2017, after 13 years parenting her special needs son with high functioning autism (ASD), pathological demand avoidance (PDA), ADHD and Tourette's Syndrome. In 2017 her son started at a termly residential specialist school for children with high functioning autism. Seeing the difference this school and the level of care made to her son, she felt compelled to help other families secure comprehensive Education, Health and Care Plans and find the right educational environment for their child.
She utilises her 17 years' experience in the global corporate world of IT client services, with a BSc Hons degree in Applied Computing. Followed by a career change in 2014 working as an Educational Consultant for a global school search company, whilst living as an expat in the United States. She worked extensively with International executive families relocating countries to navigate school choices. Whilst living and educating her children in the United States, she volunteered weekly in their classrooms, and was VP Board of Trustees for their International Baccelaureate Charter School.
In 2022 she started working as a Family Ambassador for the NHS supporting parents when their young people were referred to CAMHS Tier 4 inpatient & day patient mental health units. She helped them with applying for Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payments (PIP), Education Health & Care Needs Assessments, EHCP appeals, and supporting parents to work in partnership with the hospital teams.
Through her experiences she has been able to create a highly specialised service to help families like her own, find educational excellence within the minefield of mainstream and specialist schools. First and foremost she is a special needs parent, an Educational Consultant, and is passionate about seeking the best educational opportunities for students with different kinds of minds.

"There needs to be a lot more emphasis on what a child can do instead of what he cannot do."
